4. What is Covered?
The main types of
treatment covered are dental, extended
healthcare, prescription drugs and
vision. AccertaChoice can fund treatment
options that most plans won’t. Virtually
any treatment prescribed or provided
by a licensed health care practitioner
is eligible. The only limitation is
that the practitioner must be an eligible
provider under the Income Tax Act.
Some examples include basic health
and dental treatments such as dental
check-ups and cleaning, all prescription
drugs, the full range of paramedical
practitioners (chiropractors, massage
therapists, physiotherapists, etc.)
eyeglasses and contact lenses, and
many services and supplies not covered
under Provincial Health Plan. In addition,
the plan can be designed to cover
major treatment options such as restorative
and orthodontic dental treatment,
laser eye surgery, or cosmetic surgery.
