1. What is AccertaChoice?

AccertaChoice is a simple, cost-effective alternative to traditional health and dental insurance. With AccertaChoice, the Small Business owner has total control over benefit costs, and employees have “no hassle” payment for the treatment they need.

2. How does AccertaChoice Work?

You decide how much you want to set aside for health and dental coverage. We design an AccertaChoice plan that delivers the maximum benefit to each employee within that overall limit. The plan operates like a series of Health Spending Accounts that we administer for each employee. When an employee goes to the dentist, buys new glasses or visits a massage therapist, Accerta processes the claim and reimburses the employee to his or her individual coverage limit. It’s that simple!

3. Who Qualifies?

Virtually any company can qualify, regardless of size. And there are no medical exams needed – anyone can be covered! AccertaChoice is an employment benefit. It is not available to individuals unless it is purchased by their employer.

AccertaChoice can be tailored to a wide range of customer needs. Here are two examples:

1)  An incorporated high-net worth individual considering thousands of dollars worth of dental treatment: With AccertaChoice, the individual can structure a plan that will pay for this treatment and obtain an income tax deduction for the cost.

The result: the full treatment is paid for with before-tax dollars, a significant cost advantage.

2)  A small business with five employees looking to provide a basic level of coverage for its employees and dependents: They can set up a plan providing $1000 of annual benefits per member.

The result: a valuable contribution to employee health that will help you attract and retain your most important asset – your employees.

4. What is Covered?

The main types of treatment covered are dental, extended healthcare, prescription drugs and vision. AccertaChoice can fund treatment options that most plans won’t. Virtually any treatment prescribed or provided by a licensed health care practitioner is eligible. The only limitation is that the practitioner must be an eligible provider under the Income Tax Act. Some examples include basic health and dental treatments such as dental check-ups and cleaning, all prescription drugs, the full range of paramedical practitioners (chiropractors, massage therapists, physiotherapists, etc.) eyeglasses and contact lenses, and many services and supplies not covered under Provincial Health Plan. In addition, the plan can be designed to cover major treatment options such as restorative and orthodontic dental treatment, laser eye surgery, or cosmetic surgery.

5. You Only Pay for What You Use

In a traditional insurance plan you can pay thousands of dollars for coverage that your employees may not use. Excess payments are kept by the insurance company as profits. With AccertaChoice, you only pay for the benefits you and your employees receive. If there is money left over at the end of the year, as there usually is, it’s your money, not ours. You get it back to help pay for next year’s coverage or to increase benefits.

• No extra feed hidden in the small print! Accerta charges only a flat rate administration fee, based on plan size. A small one-time set-up fee applies to plans with under ten employees.
